Rest of the story.

Adding to the story of beautiful goddess representing Mt Fuji; “Praise for Cherry Blossoms” (Kono-hana-sakuya-hime 木花開耶姫命), her father meant to have her big sister (Princess Iwanaga) getting married to the bridegroom (grandson of the God of Sun) , too.

The Womb of Mt Fuji.

It may be strange to get married to two princess, but I guess that was acceptable at that time.

Princess Iwanaga, however was very ugly and the bridegroom sent her back to her family.

After this accident, the lifetime of people were limited to shorter period, because Princess Iwanaga who represents rock and eternity got VERY jealous and angry.

This is why if you praise Mt Fuji from this shrine, you will stumble and fall off the cliff 166m high. What a great story.
