Old is New

Giant size pieces of wood beautifully carved by Daiku carpenters long long time ago, would otherwise have been scrapped to build a new prefabricated houses.

The “bones” collected from various old houses in northern part of Japan are the collection of one of our clients.

The client requests a building utilizing his collection, but faces a giant obstacle.

1. How will these various types of material be assembled?

2. Who will adjust the materials for assembly?

He managed to find a designer who is good at designing houses using old wooden materials, but finding the Daiku carpenters was difficult.

Why?

Because it will consume too many people and time.

So looking all over Japan to find a construction company with the art, technique and the number of Daiku carpenters, he assigned us.

Still a lot of work to do.

We will see.
